Official Rulings

In my battleline I have a creature with 2Aember icon on it. My opponent has Magda the Rat (COTA 303) in their battleline. Neither of us has any Æmber in our pools. If I play a Gateway to Dis, does the Æmber on my creature go to the opponent’s pool before the lasting effect of Madga the Rat that allows me to steal 2Aember icon resolve?
Yes. All counters and tokens (including Æmber) are removed from cards as they leave play. Magda the Rat’s lasting effect resolves after Magda the Rat leaves play.

If a card like Gateway to Dis (CoTA 59) destroys multiple creatures and Tolas (CoTA 103) is one of those creatures, does anyone gain Æmber off of Tolas’ ability?
No. Tolas’ ability does not trigger until cards are actually put into discard piles, at which point Tolas is already destroyed.

Commentary

All creatures are destroyed by a card’s effect simultaneously (like with Gateway to Dis) unless specified by a card’s effect.
If an ability states an effect is applied to "each creature", the effect is resolved for both Friendly and Enemy creatures.
